Welcome to the Rangitikei! It's my great privilege to be Mayor of this wonderful district. Rangitikei born and bred, I believe there is no other place better. Great farmland, top adventure tourism sites and bustling small towns with communities that are as passionate about the Rangitikei as I am.

The Rangitikei is a district of outstanding natural beauty - take a tiki-tour off State Highway 1 and you will discover a small slice of NZ heaven - amazing scenic views, rolling hills, forests, wetlands, bush reserves - all with walking tracks, beautiful rivers and wild West Coast beaches. We have numerous outdoor activities in the Rangitikei - from white water rafting and bungy jumping, to some of the best fly fishing sites in NZ.

Farming is the backbone of the NZ economy, and the rural sector has the biggest influence within the Rangitikei. The Rangitikei caters for many types of farming - dairy farming, hill country sheep farms, forestry. And we can't forget the barley - did you know your beer starts here??

Our communities reflect the more traditional Kiwi values and have retained that sense of community spirit. These communities have been working together for many years now to produce some of New Zealand's iconic events - from the Turakina Caledonian Highland Games in the south to Taihape's Gumboot Day Festival in the north.

During my years of service to this district, firstly as a councillor and now in my first term as Mayor, it has been a pleasure to meet many of you and to hear your ideas and vision for this district. Thank you for your talent, creativity, innovation and passion - the Rangitikei is a better place for it.
